Hello to all my adoring fans!
Okay, to all my friends who like my work.
Hmmm, maybe to those of you who’ve subscribed to this newsletter and tolerate my ridiculous commentary on life…
…yeah, that’s the one.
I’ve updated the date of my art exhibition at the Art Gallery of Golden as my loving family (husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law) all have a work trip on the original date and they want to be there…
So, I’m going to brave a massive amount of jet lag and do this thing on FEBRUARY 20TH, 2026.
Mark your calendars and come see all my work on display! Hopefully you’ll also be able to purchase a book there (fingers crossed it is printed in time!).
I also thought I might take a moment here to write about the experience of publishing a book. I had NO idea what it would be like and I must say, my publisher Tellwell Publishing has been amazing.
The best part by far has been the editing process, I never realized how fun, validating and what a great learning process working with a professional editor would be.
Jen, my editor, is a person I’ve never met. We have only communicated via comments on a word document of my manuscript, but it was like having a friend (who is amazing at grammar) read my work. It was so cool to have her make comments on the stories themselves, and relate to my feelings and messages in a meaningful way. I didn’t expect the editor to make comments like “that’s hilarious”, “I totally relate and feel the same way”, “your readers may want to learn more about this point” etc. I guess I thought she’s just fix the grammar and be done with it. I was so pleasantly surprised.
This whole process, from seeing the first cover draft to setting up pricing has shown me that I am capable of making something that people – besides my friends and family – might enjoy, relate to and want to read. It’s weird.
I know I shouldn’t be relishing in all this validation. This book was really (and it still is) something I’m doing for me… but holy fucking shit, it feels good to be a ‘real’ writer and artist.
I do hope some of you are able to make it to the art opening, where the book (assuming no printing delays) will be available. However, if not, I will post where you can buy a copy if you are so inclined.
Merry Christmas!!!
