Well everyone, it’s HAPPENING!
I am publishing my comics and blog posts into a real live book!
This is something I never thought I’d do, but here we are. Getting the cover design completed was a huge step for me, as it makes the whole project feel real. The copy is currently with the editor and the book design and layout will happen in the coming weeks.
The book is timed to coincide with an art exhibition I will be putting on at the Art Gallery of Golden. The idea is to have copies of the book for purchase along with all of my comics up for display. If you are in Golden February 27th, come to the opening! The exhibit will be up Feb 20 to March 14, 2026. The book will also be available on Indigo.ca and Amazon.com once published.
In other news, I’ve been having a weird time lately, I had quite a bad depression ‘episode’ – I don’t know what the fuck else to call it, all I know is it sucked – last month and have been adjusting the medication to accordingly. I have been feeling like I’m not present and not ‘myself’ since late October. I recently turned a bit of a corner though, and with the book project moving forward it’s given me a little surge of happy energy.
I had a call with my Mum this morning and she told me such a wise piece of advice “life doesn’t have to be perfect”. It’s simple in theory, but as a well practiced perfectionist, accepting this doesn’t come easily. However, there is something very powerful about hearing this from Mum, she’s wise as fuck, is a medical professional, an amazing role model and someone who could benefit from her own advice (sorry to call you out Mum). Anyway, it was exactly what I needed to hear and something I will always need to tell myself – life is a practice and a journey. The ‘practice’ part is very important, as things can throw you off, and just because that happens doesn’t mean you are starting from scratch. I’ll get back to a place I feel content, happy, excited and will continue to practice letting shit go in good times and bad.
For now, I’m working on taking life one day at a time and practicing being present & grateful along the way.
