This comic is obviously quite simple. It was inspired by someone in a group coaching session in the sobriety group I was a part of. I want to take a moment here to send a shout out to the “One Year No Beer” group, as they were instrumental in helping me change my relationship with alcohol. This member was trying to describe his relationship with alcohol and said:

‘I feel like I’m on a see-saw and the alcohol is heavier, and pulling me back’.

I drew this for him and for all of us who have struggles when trying to balance the good things with the draw of what is ultimately trying to sabotage us.

I think this can be applied to SO many things in our life, and that’s why I have my dog on one side and the demon on the other. My dog is the antithesis to the demon and she wants the best for me. I just thought it was a more fun way to represent the cliche ‘angel on one shoulder and devil on the other’.
